Schiele Museum
Gastonia, NC

2-19-2005

I spent the day at the Schiele Museum in Gastonia, N.C. with my friends Jerry Fortenberry and Tena. Jerry operates the "Indy Jones Trading Company" and had a booth set up selling his merchandise at the "Fossil Fair". He had invited me to come down and sell my books and dvd's, it was a great time. Tena even baked me an orange cake and it wasn't even a rockhound trip! thanks Tena. Many of our M.A.G.M.A. members stopped by to see us. I had never been to this museum before and I am very impressed with the excellent displays not only of rocks and gems, but many other natural history items, especially the animals. If you have not been to this museum, you need to go.

Dick Jacquot, Tena, Jerry and John D.

Jerry and John checking out some fossils.

There were many dealers set up with items from $1.00 to $10,000, a fossil collectors dream. I saw many specimens that would have looked great on my fossil shelf, but my wallet disagreed, so I had to settle for a lot of pictures.

Ammonites

Trilobites

This excellent crab specimen was for show only, not for sale.

Nice shark tooth display.
