What do you get when you put 80 M.A.G.M.A. members together in the mountains of Western North Carolina for a week? The finest group of Rockhounds anywhere, that's what! It's time again for the Rockhound Roundup report to pass along our fantastic time together that has again ended all to soon. We had the largest turnout yet for the event. Altogether we visited nine different mines in the W.N.C. area and collected some of the finest specimens to come from these mines in years, I would expect nothing less from the members of M.A.G.M.A.

The event actually started on Monday, Ron and Nancy and Ken were setup at the camp area when I arrived home from work, they were eager to get the party started and that they did.

Thanks to our MAGMA member Pete Mailman, we had a stack of the new M.A.G.M.A. stickers to be distributed to the members as they arrived Some were immediately attached to the backs of vehicles to fly the MAGMA flag.

Having made the Ray Mica Mine their first field trip of the Roundup week, Nancy lived up to her name "Chunkfinder" by bringing home some fine beryl specimens:

Same crystal as above after Ken polished the sides.

Donna T. arrived and setup camp, she drove all the way from Missouri to join us on her second MAGMA event.
